Main Easter Egg

A Beginning

All multiplayer maps, except Giant's Shadow, contain hidden pairs of headphones that can be brought to a hidden MCOM telegraph station to reveal a secret, individualized Morse code message. These messages send you on a lengthy quest around all multiplayer maps, eventually leading to acquiring special dog tag that "does not belong to you".

A Conflict

On the map Soissons, it was discovered that destroying every light source inside the Chateau on Soissons triggers a mechanical sound effect to play. This sound effect indicates that the player has succesfully completed the step and can move on to the next one. This is only the beginning of a complicated easter egg that involves a lot of puzzling and which eventually leads to acquiring the special dog tag that is called "A Conflict".

Miscellaneous Easter Eggs

Multiplayer

Shark

Three simple steps are required to awake the big shark sleeping under Fort de Vaux and cause it to erupt from a water puddle, killing the victim stepping in it.

Balloon House

A balloon house can be seen flying over the map Verdun Heights once you destroy three specific wine bottles and shoot three weather vanes. The balloon house is a reference to the movie "Up".

Battlefield Friends

Three different Battlefield Friends (BFFs) audio dialogues are hidden in the maps Volga River, Brusilov Keep & Lupkow Pass, all part of the "In the name of the Tsar" expansion pack.

Dark Souls Bonfire

A sword, identical to the saber, can be picked up from inside a bonfire found outside of the Rupture map's boundaries. It has the ability to 1-hit-kill enemies but will only "stick" to the player's current loadout and will be lost when the player redeploys.

Battlefield 1 Theme Tune

A vinyl record spawns in one of several fixed locations on the map Prise de Tahure. Picking it up, taking it to the gramophone and interacting with it will trigger the Battlefield 1 theme tune.

Double Rainbow

On the maps St. Quentin Scar and Ballroom Blitz, double rainbows can be seen once it rains. This is likely a reference to the famous "Yosemitebear Mountain Double Rainbow" video.

Teddy Bear Crates

Teddy Bears appear in random wooden boxes spread in the single player and multiplayer maps. As soon as you'll destroy the right box, many Teddy Bears will come out of it.

Dreadnought Horn

The Dreadnought ship has a horn that sounds pretty close to the theme from the film Jaws.

Battlefield Theme on Rush MCOM

When calling for artillery with an MCOM station during the Rush mode, there is a random chance that you will hear the Battlefield theme played with morse code sound effects.

Rare Reload Animations

Double-Barrel Shotgun

When reloading the Double-Barrel shotgun there is a rare chance of performing a secret reload animation, which is very similar to the one seen in DOOM for the same weapon.

Autoloading 8.35

When you empty the clip and perform a reload with either Autoloading 8.35 variant, there is a 1 in 94 chance of performing a secret reload animation, very similar to that of the AN-94 gun, seen in previous Battlefield titles.

Kolibri

When lying prone and performing a reload with the Kolibri there is a chance of performing a funny reload animation which can only be seen by other players. The player performing the reload can be seen searching for his gun, implying that he lost it due to its tiny size.

Russian 1895 Cavalry

When reloading the Russian 1895 weapon from horseback, the player can occasionally perform a reload animation similar to the one seen in the movie True Grit. This reload animation could also be a reference to the very similar Terminator reload seen in the game Battlefield Hardline.

Single-player

Beacon of Gondor

During the first map of the single-player campaign, Friends In High Places, a series of wooden pyres can be found. If you fire a rocket at the nearest pyre, it will ignite. Eventually all of the distant pyres will ignite themselves one after another. This is most likely a reference to Lord of the Rings.

WE LOVE DICE LA

During the first mission of the Runner campaign, there are 20 flags hanging on the boat with which you arrive on. These flags, when translated using the Flag Alphabet, say: WE LOVE DICE LOS ANGELES.

Items of Interest/Theories

'Pigpen' Painting

Several maps contain a painting which features a small 'X' shaped illustration surrounded by 4 pairs of letters.

Oil Can

Scattered heavily across various maps in Battlefield 1, are these oil cans. For a majority of these oil cans, if you shoot at them, a white cross will suddenly appear on them.

Online Phantom Dog Tag

A dog tag titled “Online Phantom Dog Tag” can be acquired if you login to your Origin account at Battlefield.com. The tag shows an image of a skull wearing a WW1-era helmet while looking through binoculars.

TheDiceMachine

Within the game’s files, there is a game mode called "TheDiceMachine" associated with ‘headphones’. It is not known what this connection is, but it seems to be related to the Marconi Easter Egg.

Unidentified Floating Orbs

During the third mission of the Through Mud and Blood campaign several bright white orbs appear floating in the sky when the alarm is sounded to your presence.

Zombie door

On the map Fort De Vaux, included in the 'They Shall Not Pass' DLC, a door marked 'isolement' from which can be heard different zombie sound clips.
